Para-professional Staff

• Question: How do you determine the rate of pay for para professionals on you staff?

Travel time

• Each consortium varies in the way in which it compensates staff for travel time to and from teacher trainings.  Often these issues are dictated by funding, contract rules, etc..  The following comments were made regarding travel time pay:
  •  Some consortia pay for travel time because often, travel for ABE teachers is conducted outside of the regular school day, after they have already worked during the day.  This is in contrast to the regular school district  teachers who travel during their regular work day.
  • It is best to check with union contracts if ABE staff are a part of the local teachers union.
