What is the Accuplacer Sentence Skills test?
The Accuplacer test includes 20 questions on sentence skills.  There are two types of questions:

a) Sentence correction items – These require an understanding of sentence structure.  You need to choose the best word or phrase for the underlined part of the sentence.

b) Construction shift items – These require you to rewrite a sentence according to the instructions given while keeping the meaning basically the same.

Test items deal with the logic of sentences, writing complete sentences, or the relationship between coordination and subordination.

When taking the Accuplacer test, you may not use any notes.  Use of a personal calculator is not allowed; however, an on-screen “pop-up” calculator is available on some Accuplacer math items.  There is no time limit for completing the Accuplacer Test.
